It turns out the adage is true; you are what you eat. If you fill yourself full of sugary drinks or carbohydrate-rich foods, your blood sugar is going to spike and plunge. This pattern creates changes in mood, irritability, and anxiety.
Additionally, this repetition encourages overeating to avoid the dips by maintaining high blood sugar. Keep in mind that you do not have to eat only super-clean, organic or gluten-free free foods to eat well. You just need to eat sensible meals that focus on lean proteins and veggies. Being too strict with your diet may help your physical health, but not your mind, so allow time to enjoy your favorites in moderation.
